Sunway University hosted GDGKL DevFest x Firebase Summit 2019, together with Sunway Tech Club, with Google and the tech community’s support. An event hosted annually around the world, GDG DevFests are large, community-run developer events happening around the globe focused on community building and learning about Google’s technologies. This year, DevFest includes Firebase Summit Extended which has a track dedicated to everything Firebase. Sunway hosted Firebase Googlers coming all the way from USA to share what’s new and exciting in Firebase.
GDG DevFest Kuala Lumpur brings together the world class experts in Android, Web and Cloud technologies for one full day of sessions, workshops and showcases. Firebase Summits brings together experts in Firebase, and show how Firebase helps mobile app teams of all sizes across the entire development lifecycle to build their products.
The event was attended by well over 420 people, with a diverse mix of students, teachers, professors, industry experts, Googlers, working professionals, and more. Present was the Dean of Sunway University School of Science and Technology, Prof. Serguei Demidenko, for the opening. The event included talks about the latest Google technologies in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Web Technologies, Android, Cloud Computing, as well as Firebase.
The event also featured office hours, where participants could mingle with the speakers, sponsors, as well as each other, to learn and network with each other. Towards the end of the event, participants were spoiled with great lucky draw prizes, starting with Raspberry Pis, going to Google Homes, and ending with the latest Acer Chromebook for one lucky participant.
